Dinengdeng

Last day of the month… and last lecture day for our Microbiology subject. It was such an uninteresting day -- nothing new -- everything so usual.

By the way, our dinner for tonight is dinengdeng. I just realized, I have already tried preparing different meals, but this, our very own native food, I haven’t yet. To think, I have always love Mommy’s dinengdeng aka buridibud ever since old times. But I still didn’t know how to cook it. I mean, I know the ingredients and how to chop and slice the vegetables, but not the sequence of putting the ingredients and other necessary things to follow while cooking. I must learn it soon.

Our Typical Sunday

Sunday, and I spent almost half of my day on the bed. I got up almost noon time and I spent the next hours for laundry. Almost 3 pm when I finished. ANA had cooked some food, so we ate our… not even appropriate to say brunch. Haha. Tired, I decided to take some sleep and just attend the 6 pm Mass after. I alarmed my phone at 5 pm and informed ANA to wake me up if I wasn’t able to hear my alarm. Just as expected, I didn’t wake up on time and ANA, busy in front of the computer monitor forgot what I told her. It was already 5:30 pm. I quickly took a bath and prepared for the Mass. I left the apartment almost 6 pm. No pedicabs so I just decided to walk again just like last Sunday. Anyway it’s a form of exercise. Hehe. The bad thing, I didn’t catch the start of the Mass. At least, I still found a good seat. After the Mass, I bought food for our dinner: ground pork, potatoes and carrots. I had a funny moment with the vegetable seller because she had a hard time computing for my total bill that she even asked me. Haha. I arrived home almost 7:30 pm. I gave the stuffs I bought to ANA for her to cook while I changed my clothes. I turned on the TV afterwards and we watched together. Soon, Ate arrived from the province. We ate together; I washed the dishes; and later on, time to sleep again.

I Found Him!

I feel so happy! I can’t remember when was the last time I sat down to surf the internet. After many delays, I was able to finally do what I wanted to do before -- to search for Sir E’s profile.

I say, it’s not really that easy and simple to find a person in the internet, but I also say it’s not that hard either. When I did the search, what I first saw is a duo picture of an unknown co-interviewee with him -- taken at the PERC -- uploaded on the co-interviewee’s Tumblr account. Though it states his name, at first I still never thought that it is Sir E. Fortunately, it’s really him! I literally fell on my chair and a sweet sweet smile appeared in my face after then. I am very happy to see him again -- even just in picture -- because I miss him! I feel like wanting to thank this co-interviewee (although I do not know him personally) for taking a picture with Sir E and posting it online stating Sir E’s complete name that I was able to find it.

I searched more. The peak when I found his Facebook account! I couldn’t hold my happiness anymore! I was so excited! I looked at his profile pictures, and OMG he’s really cute! After then, I found myself saving his photos already -- much like a stalker eh? Not really, hehe. I just idolized him so he’s my special inspiration to pass the boards now.

I inspected his public information. Just one thing I was hoping not to see -- the “in a relationship status”. You know, just like a typical fan girl to his boy idol? Fortunately, there wasn’t such status. It was a relief. Haha. I learned that he’s from BiƱan, Laguna, a scholar like that, magna cum laude graduate of UPH, quite a traveler -- who’d been to out of town countries like Singapore and Macau and other provinces like Baguio, Bohol, etc., and what I admire most -- a family-guy. The more I know about him, the more I admire him.But what caught me the most is his account name. It’s his nick name, perhaps? Somehow far from his real name though.

After I found out his complete name, I googled him again -- and there he is, #367 on the sequential list of September 2012 Medical Technology board passers. I got an idea because of this -- I used the numbers as part of my phone’s pin. At least, I didn’t set any of his photos as my screen or lock wall paper! That will make him mistaken as my special someone in case! Haha!

While looking at his photos, something bothered me suddenly. Why do I feel like he looks familiar to me? Then I remembered, MAG -- an old classmate and one of my crushes during college! They look similar! How amazing and funny. I think my eyes really know what and to whom they are set to. Hehe.

Honestly, I’m staring at one of his picture right now. And ah! I just remember! This polo shirt! This is what he wore during our last day with him as our lecturer, our Clinical Microscopy post-assessment examination and rationalization day before! I remember, during then, I was feeling tickled pink because while he wore a red shirt, I wore a maroon-almost red blouse! I also remember that I purposely wore something unusual for me to wear on that day because the day before that, he had requested to have a photo with our section as a remembrance on our last day. But I was more even surprised to see that we were wearing the same color of top. I felt very happy during then that I kept on secretly smiling while taking my exam. Haha!

Lesson about Mistakes

"Accept your mistakes. Mistakes teach us precious rare lessons, that can’t be acquired by success. Be willing to take a new direction in life. Accept and face the reality and move on with life.”

This is what I got to pick from my advice notebook today. Kinda related to what happened just this evening.

After many weeks, Kuya finally talked to me -- I mean, not mentioning those little talks that we have, like when for example Daddy called on the phone and I have to give it to Kuya.

“You got a copy of Rio 2 yet?” -- this started our conversation ‘coz we are both movie addicts. It feels good and relieving actually, now that he already talked casually to me. I really hope we’ll be fine and back to normal again.

Second Version?

New subject: Microbiology. First lecture day, and it was a whole day. Our new lecturer is Ma'am AAA. Hahaha! I just can’t stop laughing whenever I think about it. She’s just like Ma'am ALPN who has several signatory lines. Ma'am AAA’s signatory lines are the following:

“On the board”
“Ay, nagtatanong ako.”
“Hoy!”
"Very good!”
“ba”

They are really funny. But of course, she also shared some word of wisdom. She enumerated the important factors to pass the board exam. These are:

     1.) Lecture
     2.) Readings
     3.) Time management
     4.) Self-discipline, and lastly
     5.) Prayer.

Schedule

We took our post-assessment examination and rationalization for Parasitology subject today. I expected Sir JACT to proctor us since he is our lecturer for the subject but he wasn’t. I didn’t get the name the substitute proctor, so I’ll just nickname him Sir Indian. Hehe.

Honestly, I didn’t like how Sir Indian rationalized for us. He just talked and talked and talked in front. I mean, unlike during previous rationalizations of our other subjects, the proctors at least either write on the board or repeat what they are saying.

Anyway, I like what he advised to us. He shared: Make a schedule and strictly follow it. Include a buffer date. Don’t sacrifice a subject. Even if you fail to finish one subject within your allotted period of days based on your schedule, proceed to the next. Continue the unfinished subject on your buffer date. Really make sense and appropriate for me. Hehe.

Crazy Thought

Haha. It’s my first time to come late for review class. Hehe.

Today is actually our last day for the subject that we started yesterday. In the morning, we continued our lecture for the first part, Medical Technology Laws and Ethics and finished all up to the second part, Laboratory Management. In the afternoon is our post-assessment examination and rationalization.

Yeah, we only have 2 days for this subject since it only comprises 10% in the board exam -- less than 10% actually because it is combined with Histopathology. So all in all it’s just a minor among our minor subject. But still, this is one hateful -- but not totally hateful -- subject to study because of the dates and numbers. It’s not that I hate numbers, but they’re just too several to memorize -- ahm… not actually several. I just mean that along with several other must-to-know for major subjects, these are just too much to add for our sweet little brains to take. Nevertheless, what can we do anyway? Tolerate, be patient and study.

After the wrap up for MTLE-Lab Mgt, they announced that we would have a special lecture about Autopsy by Dr. RTY. Autopsy. Yeah, right. Autopsy. Hehe. I and MLA have this very creepy off beam expectation of what this class would be. We have a wild imagination that suddenly, they would just bring a corpse covered with white blanket inside the room and we would study that. Waaaaaahhhh!!!! But of course there are no such things like that that happened. Haha. We just have a discussion because it is included for the subject Histopathology.

Out of Focus

New subject for today’s review! It’s Medical Technology Laws and Ethics combined with Laboratory Management. Our new lecturer is Sir MRVD.

Know what? I wasn’t able to concentrate on the discussion while ago. It’s because of Sir MRVD! He looks like Sir K! Sir K is one of our staffs during internship at MCU-FDTMF hospital.

“Why? You have a crush to Sir K?” my textmate during break replied to me.

Yes. Haha!

“No. I mean, can you imagine Sir K -- lecturing --- in front of you -- inside a classroom? I mean, Sir K -- who we just see in the laboratory -- working -- practicing the profession -- not teaching, can you imagine that? Of course, that’s distractible, isn’t it?”

“Oh, I see…” my textmate agreed.

Hahaha! Honestly, what I told him was just a part. The real reason behind is what he guessed at the beginning. Hahaha!

By the way, he shared some weird ways to memorize the dates for this subject. The weirdest is for “June 21, 1969” -- but I’m so sorry because I don’t have the guts to share it myself. Hahaha!

Daddy, Mommy, I am Sick

I feel so bad today. It’s because of my colds. Waaaa… My nose hurts. I feel my eyes like burning. It’s a good thing, the Parasitology lecture notes that I have been typing since Friday is already done. It’s enough for our post-assessment examination this coming Tuesday -- at least.

The Mass that I attended today was preceded by my favorite priest. and I saw an old couple at the Church while ago. They are seated in front of me. They make me think of Daddy and Mommy. How good will it be if they will also be like them in the future.

Homily

Rain, Haircut and Exam

Today is our last lecture day for Parasitology subject.

Any advice that I learned from Sir JACT? It is not to let your head be wet under the rain and not to have a haircut before taking the board exam because all of those you reviewed will be gone! Oops, is that even a real advice? Hahaha!

And oh, his finale words:

“No need to read books. There’s no good book in Para -- just the review notes that I prepared is okay. I am confident. Oh by the way, it’s my first time to handle Para.”

Hahahaha! Sir JACT is really something!

She’s A Child No More

It’s ANA’s 18th birthday!

I told her to go meet me after my review class. She did as I told her. I gave her flowers. We ate together and did some little shopping as well. I tried my best to at least make her day special even though there’s no debut party and the like for her. At the apartment, Ate and Kuya are the taya. Kuya bought the pizza. Ate bought the cake. We combined all our powers (Powers?! Haha!) to make ANA happy. I really hope she was.

Funny Not-so-Funny

Met our new lecturer today -- Sir JACT. He will be lecturing Parasitology.

Initial comment, you must be good in taking down notes because what is missing in his hand out notes are the definitions or details and he’s just dictating it. He believes that the more you write, the more you remember it. He’s also funny just like our previous lecturers on other subject. He loves to joke. But! You’ll never know when will he joke around. He drops it just like a bomb! The real funny thing, it takes time for us before we catch his jokes! I mean, we will never know that he’s joking unless he tells us that he is! Hahaha! So that’s Sir JACT.
