Today is our second day at PERC. Actually,
it is the first day of our official review because yesterday, it was just an
orientation and assessment. We started our real review today.
Just like yesterday, I and MLA planned to
meet first again so that we would go at the review center together. After
meeting up, we then have our attendance at the office -- just as when Sir NM was
also there again. We were given our copies of the lecture -- our first hand
out. Clinical Microscopy. We thought Microbiology. Sir NM explained that our
supposedly Micro lecturer got sick so they have some changes with our subject
schedule. We would take CM first instead of Micro.
We then proceed to our room, beside the
office. It is the one we first saw and mistaken to be our room yesterday, but
unfortunately was not and was rather designated to the other section. Although
we already knew that room since yesterday, it was our first time in it. What I
immediately noticed upon entering the room is the quote posted in front above
the white board. I didn’t saw it yesterday when I took a peak. It says,
“Prayers make miracle”, as what Sir NM mentioned several times yesterday during
orientation.
We looked for our seats. We have different
sitting arrangement there. I mean, not the seat number, but the position of our
chairs itself. It’s maybe because the distribution of desk per column or row is
different between this room and the other one at the second floor. We were
sitting on the same row and neither at the centremost nor the front most.
We arrived a little early so we have some
chitty chats -- more especially when Barbie, a college classmate and friend,
sat beside me. Sir NM then entered. MLA and I looked at each other and we both
suddenly stopped talking at the same time. That’s what exactly really happened.
Haha.
He started introducing our first lecturer.
I wasn’t actually paying so much attention on it. All I remember is when he
stated the name, I was staring at my copy of the hand outs on my hands. On my
mind, I read, “by Errol E. Coderes, RMT”. Just as what I was so curious about
while ago, "Is this the person who’s gonna stand in front of us later?" Sir NM
finally confirmed it. When he ended his introduction, MLA whispered to me,
“Nobody clapped.” That made me felt guilty because I was one of those nobody.
Hehe.
After Sir NM held down the microphone and
left, we expected our first lecturer to forward. We waited eagerly. One. Two.
My head moved side to side to where other heads don’t block the view in front. Three.
Four. My head started turning left and right. Five. Six. My head started to turn 360 degrees. Seven.
Eight. Extended upward while still turning around, my head seemed to disconnect
from my neck. Nine. Ten. My forehead then wrinkled. Where the hell is our
lecturer?! Of course, I didn’t shout out loud that part. Haha.
I was then losing my eagerness to meet that
person. I just started turning the pages of my copy of the hand out. Suddenly, MLA
poked me signalling me to look in front. I did as she said. And as soon as raised
my head and looked in front, I saw a big fat dark guy with bulging stomach in
his fit yellow shirt. Oops! Just kidding. Hehe. I saw a guy smiling in his white
with some blue stripes polo shirt and pants. And I was shocked. I was so
shocked that I think it was all written in my face -- my eyes wide-open and my
jaw dropped. But of course, I immediately pull myself back. I whispered to MLA,
“Who’s that?! Is he our lecturer?!” I didn’t hear any of her answers after. Before
I knew it, my mind had already flown.
OMG! This guy… He looks so… so… so… young…
looks much younger than me! How is this happening?! Is this even real? And
he’s… he’s… he’s… handsome! His smile… His smile… Hehe! Okay. That explains it all. I think I
was star-struck at that moment. I think it was just me -- yeah, just me.
Because I hear angels singing. I saw butterflies flying. I saw flowers and
leaves dancing in the wind. It was all just me. And of course the fantasy part
isn’t really true. I just felt like it. Hehe.
He arranged the materials for his lecture
presentation. Then we started our discussion. Our first class with him as our
lecturer, all I can say, is so interesting! It is never boring. He’s good,
yeah! Too good, actually. Honestly, I was really amazed by his way of teaching.
I mean, he’s not just teaching. He makes sure that we understand what he is talking
about. I recalled – oh no – I learned a lot from him even if it’s just the
first day. Not that I'm saying our professors in the university aren’t. It is
just that of course this is special. And this is better. A lot better. In every
change of topic, he shared some tips regarding the board exam. And I like it
more when he shared his own experiences. Waaaaaa!!!! I think I’m… Yeah....
Anyway, some of his sharings are the following:
*Use your right foot upon entering the
examination room -- so that you’ll answer right or correctly.
*Slightly kick to move your chair before
sitting and shake it when you’re finished before passing your paper -- to
remove bad luck.
*Donate the pencils, erasers and other
materials that you used during the exam -- unless you want to save them for
further use, which means, when you retake the exam.
*Upon
leaving, never look back until completely out of the room -- unless you want to
go back, which means, take the exam again.
Funny stuffs, really. But I’m really
considering of following them. I mean, there’s nothing to lose anyway. Haha!
